While I had one baby with me, and other babies with me in the cradle worked 12 hours a day sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! Everything was starting to fall into place, but we were nowhere near done. In this undertaking I was ready to shell out a substantial amount of money and spend time searching for the perfect home. To keep my budget sound, I travelled with three of my boys to look for bargains in estate sales. It was a weekly tradition that we would go through estate and garage sales on Saturdays and Thursdays and purchase a variety of new and old pieces. My next task was to spend the rest of my time painting and sanding out in the driveway. It was a bit like this... This was when my interest in the restoration of furniture first began. Even though our home had been furnished, I could not put down. There was a market in the area to let me sell my pieces. Eventually I had more pieces that I could decide how to use them and outgrew the space. My home was where I started hosting open houses where more than 1000 people could come in and purchase any product they liked on the 1st floor in just one weekend. My venture Growing Days began here. The business wasn't just thriving but I was growing our family of four. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business as well as being a mom. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora my 4th child was born in 2013. Though I was content with the direction that my business was taking, I realized that I had to take a little break. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and stay at home with the children. It was exactly the thing I needed. But after a couple of months off the phone started to call. They were asking for my help in interior decoration and renovations. The majority of them were people who had been through my property during furniture open houses! I began to take on customers one by one taking my time but it didn't take long before I had numerous accounts and had a complete home renovation business. It is likely that I would have laughed if someone had told me the business was going to be the premise of an upcoming television show on DIY Network. In fact, I do laugh when I think about it.
